Beginning Fly Tying
Cost $40.00
Dates: January 7, 14, 21, and 28 or February 4, 11, 18, and 23
Instructors: Bill Strickland or Lou Barlow
This class is designed to get you started tying flies or get you up to speed if you have not tied in several years. The class will cover the majority of tools used in fly tying. You will also learn to tie the following flies San Juan Worm, Woolly bugger, Brassie, Hares Ear Nymph, Palmer and an Elk Hair Caddis. We will supply all of the tools and the materials for the class. You will also receive a copy of DRO's fly tying manual yours free to keep, a $19.95 value.
Bass Flies with Walker Parrott
Cost; $30
Dates:Wednesday Feb 10 and Wednesday Feb 17
Instructor: Walker Parrott
Walker will teach you how to tie your favorite smallmouth bass flies. Prio tying expereince is recomended for this class. You will learn how to tie, Poppers, sliders, crayfish patterns and other subsurface patterns. Walker will also discuss various fishing techniques for each fly tied.
Tying Southern Appalachian Trout Flies with Kevin Howell Jan 23 9-5

Dates: Satrday Jan 23 9-5
Learn to tie your favorite Southern Appalachian Trout flies from Kevin Howell. This class will cover the classic patterns of the Great Smokey Mountains and the sournding areas.. Flies covered will be Yaller Hammer, Sheepfly, Secret Weapon and other local patterns. A must attend class for those fishing the Southern Appalachians. Prior Tying expereince is recomended.
Rod Building
Cost $75 plus you will have to purchase your blank, handle, and reelseat.

Dates: Tuesdays Jan 5, 19, 26, and Feb 2
This class is designed to teach fishermen/fisherwomen how to build their own graphite fly rods. We will cover all aspects of building a rod from selecting materials and handles to wrapping guides and epoxying the rod. We will supply all glues and epoxies and rod driers. Students will need to provide a roll of 1" masking tape, a ¼" round chain saw file, and a pair of sharp fine point scissors in addition to a rod blank, handle, guides, and reel seat. You will also get a pamphlet on rod building which will be yours to keep. Students will receive a 15% discount on all supplies ordered through DRO.
2010 Fly Fishing Classes and Schools
Welcome to our fly fishing learning center. We want to help you learn all of the proper techniques to get started in fly fishing, or help you polish your skills. Our instructors will assist you in becoming a well rounded skillful fly fisher. Our instructors will cover everything from , casting, rigging equipment, knots, fly selections, fly presentation, safety, reading water, landing fish, releasing fish, rowing a boat, we will even teach you to think like a fish.
Fly fishing is a lifetime activity that is gender neutral and teaches good ethics and patience. Fly Fishing takes place in beautiful places and binds friends and families closer together. Take a look at our programs below and choose the class that is right for you.
"The Sampler"
Basic Fly Fishing Demonstration and Understanding.
This is a basic demonstration on fly fishing it includes how to rig rods, how fly rods work, a casting demonstration, basic knots and gear. This class is designed answer question for those people that have an interest in fly fishing but do not where or how to get started.
Cost: $20 per person, participants will receive a $20 credit for one of our other schools.
Dates: April 2, May 6th, June 4, July 8th and September 24. Time. 5:30-7:30pm

Clinics
These one and half hour clinics are designed to be help with a specific skill. There is no cost to the participant but they must register with the fly shop at least 48 hours before the clinic to reserve a spot. (888) 861-0111

One Day Emerger Schools
This school is designed to give you a basic understanding of fly casting, knots, gear selection and flies. Participants will spend part of the day learning to cast, they will also learn how to select the proper gear for what they are fishing for. We will help you figure out the gear you need and more importantly the gear that you do not need.
Dates: July 17, and Aug 21
Cost: $150 per person
Duration: 8 hrs. Start time 8am
Two Day Predator Schools
This is by far our most popular fly fishing school. In this school participants will learn everything covered in the one day school, like casting techniques, knots, gear, basic fly selection. The second day is spent on the river with guides from DRO you will learn how to safely wade the streams how to mend your fly and other techniques that can only be demonstrated on the water. Then after lunch you will be joined by some of our guides and actually participate in a guided fishing trip.

June 12-13 Kids Fly Fishing Camp, all kids will get a rod an reel combo to take with them.
