Fishing Report Feb 1, 2009
Good bye to January, and a welcome hello to February. Spring is near, but we still are looking at some cold weather in between. Good to see all at the Charlotte Show, things were a little slow due to 4 inches of ice, and 15-18 inches of snow around the Fly Shop and Pisgah. So what do you do with snow and bad weather? Go fishing. Landon, Jeb, Woodstock and Walker fished yesterday, with 8-10 inches of snow on the ground. Fishing at the Hatchery was clear and pretty good, we had a one lane road to navigate. If you are going up that far, be careful, and make sure you have four wheel drive. Coffey's Sparkle Minnow, Belly Ache and a Black Wooly worked for streamers. For the Nymph fishermen, we caught some on Brown Gurdle Bugs and Pink San Juan Worms. We are due some ice/sleet stuff some time this week so give us a call if you are heading up this way. Drive careful, and enjoy.

Small streams are getting extremelly cold, you may want to try them in the heat of the day. 11-2pm. Go to the bottom with a Tungsten Prince with a Copper John, dropper under a bobber. Work sz.8-10 Buggars slow in the big pools. SOME MAY BE TOO HIGH LOOK AT THE RIVER LEVELS.
