Fishing Report Feb 17, 2009
Finally, we have seen the sun the past few day, and the fish are happier. Yesterday, Kevin and I got out of the shop, and goofed off on the Davidson River; watching rainbows eating small black caddis, size 16; some were 12-14. Spring is near. The water temp is still pretty cold, in the 40's depending on the time of the day. The Hatchery has not been too crowded, and fish are eating Soft Hackle Pheasant Tails, Sassi Solutions, Black Copper John, and I would think different colors of Zebra's. Try a BellyAche Minnow or a Weir Sculpin for streamers. Dries, try a Black Elk Hair Caddis or a Slow Water Caddis.
Small streams are warming up as well. Avery Creek and Looking Glass should produce some fish on Stimulators, Elk hair Caddis and Trudes. If the fish will not come up to a dry, drop a Tungsten Prince below the dries.
